Harem Pants

Hey guys!

I've been OBSESSED with harem pants lately. Of course, it's been a while since they've been in fashion but hey, it's never to late to blog about something you love. What are harem pants you ask? They're baggy, long pants which are tapered at the ankles. Some pants include side pockets which are very convenient to have, but there are some without pockets as well. What I especially adore about these pants are the comfortness that they provide. The bagginess gives your legs area to breathe and enjoyment to walk around in the breeze.

Now, shall we learn some history? I'll keep it to a minimum so don't stop reading yet, this is the best part! Harem Pants originated in the Arabian Peninsula which were more of a traditional wear. Similar pants are worn across the world also known as, shalwar, dimije, kaccha, patiala salwar, turkish trousers, aladdin pants, and many more. These are just a few names that are common and stood out.

Fun fact: I bought my first pair of harem pants back in 2010 thinking they were some form of pajama pants (since they were plain gray in color)... I would wear it to sleep with an accomplished expression on my face because they were extremely comfortable. After a while, when I saw girls wearing them to the mall or even on TV; that's when it hit me that I was doing something completely wrong. Embarrassing, I know but you know what? Till this day, I sometimes wear them to sleep hehe.

In total I only own 3 harem pants right now. Two of which have patterns; one floral (with pockets) and one tribal (without pockets). The other ones are in plain gray with pockets. Harem pants can range from  $10-$30 at any clothing store. I got mine at a fairly reasonable price from Forever21.

Hey guys!

Woah, two posts in one day? What has the world come to!?
Since I had some free time right now, I wanted to get ahead of myself and do another quick post.
I recieved plenty of compliments on my outfit that I am wearing in the video on my last post.
So before we get into all that jazz, THANK YOU! Receiving feedback like that helps me out on what to post for all you nuggets, especially things you guys enjoy.

Anyways, since it's spring I thought why not try on my lovely new pair of floral pants! I've been dying to get a reasonable price on these babies and finally was able to find them.
Fun fact: While I was outside, I almost got attacked by bees because of the floral print... It did not go well, especially since I am deathly afraid of bugs.

☀ African Fashion ☀

Hello loves,

Happy snow day! With the negative wind chills and outrageous amounts of snow outside, I decided to do some research on African fashion. In my About tab, I mentioned that I would introduce worldly fashion along with my insight to it. By sharing it with you all, I gain much more knowledge about the fashion industry as well, which makes writing about it even more exciting!

African fashion has a wide variety of traditional and modern wear. The clothing usually involves vibrant colors that catch the eye of many. Common ornamentation used in clothing are: embroidery, beading and brocade. The patterns are sometimes created with tie-dye or batik, which is applying wax to the fabric before dying it. Amongst the variety of clothing, head pieces are also a huge fashion statement.

Traditional wear is worn depending on which region of Africa people come from.
For example:

•  In Nigeria, women wear head ties. 
• In Sahelian Africa, an array of the dashiki (colorful loose-fitted pullover men's garment, with a V-shaped collar and embroidered neck/sleeve lines), the Senegalese kaftan (pullover men's robe with bell sleeves),  and the grand boubou (flowing wide sleeved robe worn by men).
• In East Africa, women wear the kanga (a printed cotton fabric wrap) and the gomesie (colorful floor length dress).
• Zimbabwe is known for their safari shirts.
• South Africa is known for their madiba shirts (silk shirts adorned by bright and colorful print).

Modern wear has been more defined with the increase of years. Africa fashion week has been known throughout the years and is very popular amongst many places worldwide. For example, the African Fashion Week London (AFWL) is the biggest African event in Europe. They provide catwalks and exhibitions which include well known African designers. These fashion weeks are not only a big hit in Europe, but as well as North America. New York and Toronto have extravagant events involving the African Fashion Week (AFW) and feature outstanding amounts of buyers/investors.

Hello lovelies,

I am finally done with finals! Thank God. Good luck to everyone who still has them going on.
Today I wanted to talk about Pakistani Fashion. Yup, you heard right. I wanted to blog about this for a while now but I needed to get some ideas together.

In my "About Me" on the right, you can see that I put down that I love watching fashion shows. Well, among all fashion shows I watch, my favorite are of Pakistan. Many of you wouldn't believe me if I told you that the rankings of the Pakistan Fashion Industry is one of the highest. It has flourished among many to take honoring titles. Pakistani designers have such creative minds and deep insights of the fashion world that they are well-known all over the world. Among the popularity, Pakistani designers have won many international awards.

The elegance and beauty that the designs hold is what captures a person's eye. The Pakistan Fashion Industry is a combination of traditional and modern dresses. Not only ranging from traditional and modern dresses of Pakistan, the fashion industry also makes clothing suitable for European and Western world countries.

I wanted to share the love I have for this fashion industry and spread more awareness that Pakistan deserves. The people of Pakistan have much more talent then people give them credit for. Fashion is among many of the fascinating talents Pakistani's acquire and I hope you all appreciate the true essence of this industry.

Now for some traditional wear!

Henna

Hey there lovelies,

WOW. Since my last post, I have received tons and tons of views! Thank you so much, from the bottom of my heart. It seems as if many of you enjoyed my "Earrings" post the most, which is why today I will be posting another "Fashion" post talking about Henna AKA Mehndi.

What I love most about my culture is the unique art that is involved.
Yes, Henna is one of them. When I was little, I would absolutely hate the smell and look of Henna.
I know I know, what kind of freak hates Henna, right? Well, I just had different opinions back then.
I still don't like too much Henna on my hand, so if you see me post pictures of Henna on my hands or see me at occasions, I won't have it done on both sides of my hand or have too much. I just feel as if my hands can't breath. Don't laugh at me.

Anyways, Henna is usually worn for special occasions such as weddings and religious holidays (mostly on Eid and Diwali). Not only used as body art, Henna is also used as hair dye. Fun fact: It has been used as a cosmetic hair dye for more than 6,000 years! Henna is very popular in Asian and European countries. Now that the US has also been captivated with the beauty of Henna, many designers use it on their models for shoots and runways. For more history and information on Henna, click here.

Below are some pictures I took of the Henna i had done. The first picture is from last year when my friend and I went to a mela (festival) and got them done for Eid. The second one is also at a mela for Eid which was this year. The last picture is from 2 years ago on my cousin's wedding, where my cousins friend did the beautiful design on me.

New Earrings!

Hey Guys! Hope you all are having a wonderful start to the week.
Now, lets talk earrings.

These lovely earrings are called "Boho Queen Cutout Earrings." I bought them from Forever21 last month and they are still in good condition (since i wore them a lot on different occasions). Also, they are not pricey at all, only $4.80. I was originally looking for silver earrings but came across these in the store and fell in love. Shockingly, these were my first pair of big round shaped earrings because I don't usually wear anything like this. Since these babies came into my life, I am in love with big earrings. These specific one's don't weigh much either. I received tons and tons of compliments on these.

As you can see in the picture on the top right, I wore them with my hair up in a simply pony tail. Big earrings ALWAYS look good when you either have a bun or simple/high pony tail.

Since I fell in love with my first pair of big earrings, I went back to Forever21 today and bought a pair of some simple hoops along with studded earrings. Guess how much? $4.80 once again! Amazing, I know. The hoop earrings have a twisted design to it and are very light. 

The earrings in the middle are a big trend now a days. They're called "spike stud earrings." I've been seeing girls wearing them with their hair up (especially buns) and it looks amazing! I'm not a big fan of spike studs because I thought they looked trashy, but when I saw others wearing them with dresses and heels, it gave off a classy vibe to it with a touch of punk. The spike studs I bought have silver rhinestones around them which gives them a bold and elegant look. 

The earrings on the top are just simple studs that can go with an every day look. They're easy to carry and look cute as well. I wear these most of the time because they are less time consuming easy to handle.
