DIY Centerpieces

Hey there loves,

I know, I know. It's been a while right? Truly sorry about that but I promise I have a legit excuse. School + Exams + PSA Dinner tasks =  busy Mahnoor
Thank God spring break started yesterday! Now I can sit down and update you lovelies on some neat things.

This past Thursday my University's PSA (Pakistani Student Association) had an annual charity dinner. With all the tension, hard work, and time consumed, the event went better than we expected! We had  Wayne State's Bollywood Jhatka perform (which was amazingly done), a Fashion Show featuring most of our own WSU students, a speaker covering the Hassan Foundation (a non-profit organization we donated our proceeds to), and a henna station.

For more info on the Hassan Foundation or if you would like to donate, check out their website:

I always wanted to try and make my own centerpieces, so I took the chance and made all the centerpieces for the dinner. I enjoyed making them even more since it was affordable, fast, and easy. Since I made 10 centerpieces in total, my bill came out to be $20 for all the supplies. 10 centerpieces for 20 bucks is an amazing price compared to the pre made ones which are around $5 per centerpiece. I bought all the supplies from my local Dollar Store. Hopefully this mini tutorial can give you all some ideas on how to easily make them.

Pricing:

  • 5 1/4" Fluted Glass Ivy Bowl- $1.00
  • Green Ribbon- $1.00
  • White Ribbon- $1.00
  • 16-ct. Tealight Candles- $1.00
  • 14-oz. Glass Marbles- $1.00

Enjoy!

2014 NAIAS Auto Show

Hi darlings,

This past Sunday I went to the 2014 NAIAS Auto Show (North American International Auto Show). It was held at the COBO Center in Detroit, Michigan.  One word. WOW. Technology is truly increasing within the years and cars are becoming more advanced. The designs and new gadgets featured in the vehicles were to die for. I'm sure a majority of you didn't get the chance to attend the event, so I decided to snap a couple of pictures for you all.

The Auto Show consisted of a total of 40 exhibitors, which were:

  • Acura
  • AISIN
  • Audi
  • Bentley
  • BMW
  • Buick
  • Cadillac
  • Chevrolet
  • Chrysler
  • Denso
  • Dodge
  • Fiat
  • Ford
  • GMC
  • Honda
  • Hyundai
  • Infinity
  • Jaguar
  • Jeep
  • KIA
  • Land Rover
  • Lexus
  • Lincoln
  • Mazda
  • Mercedes-Benz
  • Michelin
  • MINI
  • Moper
  • Nissan
  • Porsche
  • Ram
  • Scion
  • Smart
  • SRT
  • Subaru
  • Tesia Motor
  • Toyota
  • Volkswagen
  • Volvo
  • ZF

Having a dad whose in the automotive industry paid off. As we moved from one section to the other, he would talk about the history of each company and describe the differences between the engine displays we came across. Basically, he was expressing the love he has for the auto industry through his "mini car lesson" for me, as he put it. I swear his face mirrored an expression of a little kid in a candy store, haha. All in all, it was an amazing experience, especially since I got my own personal tour from my dad. I recommend attending this breath taking event once in your life. Detroit holds the biggest Auto Show compared to the mini ones that are held in different states, which is why you should attend it in the D. What better way to see future cars then in the historic landmark where the auto industry elevated? The Motor City awaits your presence in the 2015 Auto Show.

Enjoy!
